Almar’s Funeral Details

I just got off the phone with Almar’s family in South Carolina. They are taking it as well as can be expected and are happy to know that so many people loved Almar and are thankful for all the support.

Here are the arrangements as relayed to me by the family, as well as a PDF I made with maps to help out:

  • Thursday (3/2) Viewing from 9am to 8pm at the Harvest Church, 4865 Sunset Blvd (Rt. 378) in Lexington, SC (803) 808-6373.
  • Friday (3/3) Viewing from 9am to 10pm at the Harvest Church, (NOTE: 6pm to 8pm the viewing is open. Almar’s family will be there to recieve your condolences and well wishes. Prior statements about this being a private viewing time for the family were wrong.
  • Saturday (3/4) Funeral service begins at 11am, at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 East Main St., Lexington, SC (803) 359-4146. (The family gave 301 W. Main St., but the church websites says 308 East Main which is a few blocks south on the same road).
  • The burial will follow the service at Florence National Cemetery, 803 E. National Cemetery Road, Florence, SC 29501 (843) 669-8783. The family plans on leaving the funeral service at about 2pm for a procession that will link up with a Kaison along the way. They expect the procession to arrive at Florence National Cemetary around and for the burial service to begin around 4:30pm

  • NOTE: The above details were edited and are accurate as of 6pm on 2/28 according to the family. Some places are reporting that the viewing will conclude at 6pm Friday, this is incorrect. The viewing will resume after the family’s wake has ended at 8pm. IF YOU ARE USING THE PDFs below, please note the time change of the funeral from 10am to 11am Saturday. It seems that Columbia, SC (Airport Code “CAE”) is the closest major airport and there are lots of hotels around. I just did a quick Google search and pulled up these (they’re also I listed in the PDF.)

    The news said that Almar’s funeral would be held at 11 a.m. so, which is right? the news also said that the viewing at the Harvest on Friday would only last until 6pm not 10pm.

    The schecule I have posted was given to me by Almar’s mother Sunday. Things could have changed. Please call the church if there is conflicting information.
