I’ve posted a bunch of my photos of Fitz, plus a few that I’ve gotten from his friends. The gallery can be reached by clicking on the photo of Fitz in the blog entry below. I’ll continue to add photos as you guys send them in.
I got a note from Gunnery Sgt. Lasater, he knows you all want to know what happened and is working on an AAR that might take a few days to complete.
Also, if you have email addys for people that you think would like being on this list for updates, please forward their addy to me.

I just wanted to say that I am a really good friend of Almar’s from back home. I know that he died doing what he loved. I thank you for everything that you do and for doing your best to protect our country. He was a wonderful man, the one thing was that he was always smiling.
Thanks for the pics of Almar it brings back some good memories from back in Lexington, I would love to know if the video will be aired anywhere? thank you agian and keep up the good work
We can’t thank you enough for the pictures that help us remember the friend we so dearly miss. I know, for those of who went to school with him from back home, the pictures refreshed the image of our smiling hero we are so very proud of.
Thanks for posting the pics of Almar, it’s always nice to see that smile again! I would really like to see the video when its ready! Almar was a great man, and will be greatly missed by all!
Almar will be sadly missed but remembered as a hero in every sense of the word, not just by those who knew him but by those who have only heard of him. He was a remarkable young man with a drive and ambition nearly unmatched. He had a way about him and a dedication that drove him to be the best he could be. He was a true soldier to the end. The world is now short yet another amazing individual who had a bright and shining future that ended all too soon. All gave some, some gave all. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, comrades, and friends of 2nd Lt. Almar “Fitz” Fitzgerald, as well as those families with loved ones in a war zone or who have lost someone dear to them. wow, I don’t really know what to say. Fitz was my bunk mate at ocs…he helped me through the whole ordeal. Great friggin guy. Great friggin Marine. Huge loss to America. I don’t know what to say except that he will be missed. I wish his family strength through all of this. damn.

I knew that I might hear something like this one day….. but I cant say I was prepared for it. We never got that close in all the time we spent together, but it still sad to hear he is gone. I was in Fitz’s OCS platoon and we were also in the same company at TBS. I was and am in shock when I heard the news today from another Lt. that knew Fitz…. It’s very unfortunate that he is gone, but he believed in what he was doing and is in a better place now.
Rob, I’d appreciate it if you could pass my condolences to his family as I am currently stationed in Okinawa. Thanks.
