Ramadi Makes Me Sick

We’ve been in Ramadi at Camp Hurricane Point for a few days now and I am just getting my health back. The night we arrived, I lay down with a 103 degree fever and couldn’t sleep.

After a few hours at Charlie Med, two IV bags of Saline, a bag of antibiotics, three little zip-loc bags of pills, and a lot of poking and stabbing, I was told I had some wierd bactrerial and viral infection that was going to keep me down for a while.

We moved across the river to the Marine FOB and while we have been with Weapons Company 3/7 the whole time, we’ve moved a couple of times. Great to do while you are sick. We’ve settled in the SNCOs hooch and have occupied a room left vacant by a Gunny heading home.

I shot a little around the camp, but haven’t felt up to going out on any missions. If I didn’t take my Tylenol like clockwork, I’d have violent shivers. I was wearing all my clothes, plus a jacket and wrapped up inside my 35 degree down bag and I still couldn’t get warm. The chills were so intense that, somebody thought I was having a seizure.

I woke up this morning having slept for 6 hours straight, feeling a bit better. After a shower I’m feeling a little like a human again. I just hope that I haven’t shared this with Christian or and of the Marines.

Get better soon! Maybe a nice safe little job at Sears Portrait Studio would be worth considering? You know, a job where you can go home to bed when you’re sick! Ha ha. You would die of boredom. Seriously, though, TRY to be safe and well! Enjoyed the documentary… nice work. Back to the perils of motherhood for me. :)
